Characters/Pairings: Uther/Morgana, implied Morgana/Gwen
Rating: R (for theme more than content)
Notes: Written for Kgal's Come As You're Not Halloween Party
Warnings: Child abuse verging on incest, continuing on into adulthood.

Word Count: 200 (double drabble)
Beta: The wonderful, the marvellous, the most magnificent (yes both of them) drunken_hedghog and rustydog
Disclaimer: Not mine - making no money
Why it's a costume:
Not written Merlin before and there's *points* the whole child abuse issue, which is something I just. Don't. Go. Near. If I were braver, when the 'Caspar' outfit came off it would have been to reveal a shorter hemline and a tighter corset but— well— I'm sure there's some punch around here for a dose of Dutch courage later on...
Here be Dragons
When she was a child she thought as a child and dreamt as a child. And when she dreamed, she dreamed of snakes.
Of a snake.
Of it coiling round her bed posts.
Of it slithering into bed with her.
Of its jewel-bright scales burning her. Rending her asunder.
And when she awoke, she woke tangled and screaming, kicking at the damp of her bed linens—convinced she was bathed in blood.
And her nurse petted her hair.
And Gaius dosed her with potions.
And Arthur found her hiding and promised he’d be her champion.
And she said nothing.
Now she is a woman, she thinks as a woman and dreams as a woman. And when the nightmares come, they are not of snakes but of demons and sorcery.
And the nights Uther slides beneath her covers, she endures it. As she must.
Pets his hair when he is spent, and gentles him into sleep.
And when she wakes, she wakes alone in her goose-feather bed.
And Gwen is her morning and her evening. Her everything.
And Gaius gives her her potions.
But Arthur can never be her champion. Not against his father.
She must fight that battle herself.
